Of course they're looking for the ideal candidate. They're looking for people who they can just let go and work but are green enough they can still manipulate. Doesn't mean you shouldn't try and dream. Doesn't mean theres not apprenticeship positions available. What I like about hvac/r industry is that there's a company and a pace for everyone. Some companies work you to the bone and it can be a good thing as you make killer overtime. Or you can get with a slower paced (usually union/heavy industry) company that usually doesn't have overtime and pays you a bit more per hour. Getting in can be difficult, but if you get lucky and hold someone's tools for minimum wage you can build off that like I did. Now, im a lot more valuable and im getting paid more than my immediate friend group.
