Of course its tasty. The only qualification for food in the US is that its tasty. Imagine being able to hire chemists to create delicious things in a lab with no consequences for health or well-being. That's what you get here; shit that was born in a lab and tested on hundreds of focus groups, then market tested, to find the thing people will keep purchasing. Anybody who says its not tasty is lying to themselves. Does it taste healthy or wholesome? No, of course not. People often conflate "this is good for me" with "tasty". Yes, your hand ground wheat and hand baked loaf of three ingredient bread tastes more wholesome, but thats not really better tasting than the slop. Americans have many brands that focus only on simple healthy things. There is a brand that advertises it only has three ingredients in each thing they make. It sells poorly compared to the tasty slop (even though its not tasting at all).

soul food is absolutely fantastic. i would definitely recommend trying it, as long as you keep it in moderation. you can make fried chicken, mac and cheese, collard greens, grits, gumbo, peach cobbler, red velvet cake and cornbread at home. it is glorious.

For you as an european it wouldn't be outstanding but many people seem to fail to realize that. Look at the ingredients, they'll result in something greasy with a bit of tanginess from the hot sauce and some spice. Will it taste good? Sure. Will it be something you can only find in america? No. America has no real food culture, it just consists of taking food cultures from all over the world and giving it the "america" treatment. Which usually means that the food is bigger in quantity, lower in quality, imitating looks but not methods of preparation. It struck me, I think, 10 years ago when I realized what americans are doing with "pretzels". It struck me again when I recently saw a short on youtube from a, clearly american, guy how to make pretzels. He was talking about boiling dough in baking soda which couldnt be further away from the original method.

>>25738810 Yeah lye is the way to go. And you dont boil the dough in it, you just quickly dip it into the cold solution. Please make some and report later. Baking soda might give the same browning effect but never the taste.

Retarded, whenever I eat out my number one goal is maximizing protein. Earlier today I went to an all you can eat place with my parents and I ate 600g of pork, 300g of beef, 100g of beef tongue and 200g of sausages. It cost 56BRL.
