My relatives used to put macaroni in soups (like minced meat + potatoes + veggies + macaroni). Then when you warmed up the soup later the macaronis were all swelled up and slimy. Not sure if it was a poorfag move (macaronis cost under 0.20€/400g bag back then) or just weird habit. They have since stopped doing it.

My childhood was dodging turf wars between local gypsies and local hooligans, both equally as shitty and miserable. The whole neighborhood was poor, but at school, the poorest kids got shit on by everyone else nonetheless, even though a lot of us weren't particularly wealthier either. We never went to any vacations. I never got any allowance. I always had to wear second-hand clothes and never got anything new. Even my PC was second-hand, my sister's boyfriend sold it to us.
