>Babybel is a product of Le Groupe Bel (French for 'The Bel Group'), a company with roots in the Jura region of France, started by Jules Bel in 1865.[1] Half of the global production of Mini Babybel is made in Évron, a commune in the northwest of France.[2]
>The "Original", most popular,[6] Mini Babybel is an Edam-style cheese made from pasteurised milk, rennet, lactic ferments, and salt.[7]
>Edam (Dutch: Edammer [eːˈdɑmər] ⓘ) is a semi-hard cheese that originated in the Netherlands, and is named after the town of Edam in the province of North Holland.[2]

I thought it was some authentic French cheese but it's fucking Dutch cheese. Its like finding out some big name brand bratwurst was based on a kielbasa recipe. I feel like I've been chested

Here they sell it in sort of a plastic mesh sock. So you get a sock of the tiny cheese wheels.
Pair that with Cuties, which is a tiny mandarin orange that was made to be appealing to children (and easy to peel), and you have a very gimmicky snack time.
I like both tbh I don't even care how "cheesy" the gimmicks are

when I was a kid I always asked parents to buy it because it looks like a delicacy, in its separate little portions, and so enticing
but they would never buy it because the price was like 5x of the regular cheese
so as an adult I did buy it to fulfill the wish from childhood and try this mythical ambrosia
and it turned out to be just an ok-tier cheese, nothing trully special about it
what a letdown

>just an ok-tier cheese
actually, that's the deal with food when you grow older: you start to value not some exotic shit but the regular but quality-made products
picrel is kinda the same idea but from Finland
and finally, Babybel has some unique freshness aftertaste and natural milk flavour
I love the chewy red cheese layer these have. It's like two cheeses in one!

T smells like socks, dunno what you're talking about, ones of my favorite from Romania is the one matured in fir bark and some smoked ones from Sibiu/Hermannstadt
But I also enjoyed some fine pecorino toscano and monte veronese, boy that was good, plus the spreadable soft French cheeses

Yeah same here. They are in that netted bag and are individually wrapped in plastic then with the wax coveting you have to peel open with the little wax tag.
I guess kids like it because it's like a game
