Worst part about this is that this is a co-op, not a condo. Condos you outright own the space, but in a co-op, you become owner or investor of the corporation that is the entire building, where everyone else is also a co-owner. If you want to move out and rent your unit, you need permission from the building's HOA, and the maintainance fees are fucking astronomical. This guy is probably paying more than $5k a month for his shoebox, and half of that is likely just his CO-OP maintainance fee.
In comparison, I bought a one bedroom condo in Passaic, NJ for $135k and it's only 35 minutes away from where he lives. I pay $1200 in mortgage + building maintainance for a bigger apartment AND a parking space. This guy paid $750k for social status and some form of convenience.

Hi everyone,
Super excited and proud of my new place that I just bought. It’s a little 1 bedroom co-op unit in New York City. This has been around three to four years in the making of budgeting and saving, and to see it all pay off now feels surreal. I have big plans for the interior decorating, so I might post an update here or in the interior design/male living space subreddits.
Okay, I’ll try another comment since my last one was too sassy.
I’m a single guy with a cat, so I don’t need a ton of space. I’d much rather have a fun and vibrant location to live in than multiple bedrooms or a large square footage. I’m also not outdoorsy, so being walking distance to Central Park is good enough for me.
