Insoluble fiber (which is extremely commong) can just stay in the guts and ferment, and your guts absorb the lovely endotoxins. Besides, theres nothing good about slowing down your metabolism (digestion) anyway: Bulk, bloat and all that shit only fucks with your guts.
OH, and fiber is especially rich in anti-nutrients (phytates, oxalates, etc), so you literally end up absorbing nutrients slower and worse (percentage wise).
