I think the economic shake-up looks bad in the short term but it may pay off. He's got Europe to spend on defence again which will increase sales for the US. Japan and Korea will probably also spend more very soon.
He's also being very bold with reducing the cost of govenrment. Interest payments on the colossal US government debt are soon to breach $1T if nothing was done. I think Trump's seized the opportunity to do something big here and it will probably work imo.
