In the US, this translated to Democrats taking the pro-Ukraine position, really as a means to be anti-right. When Democrats called people pro-Russia, they really mean "you're right wing, and we hate that". As a result, of course there's dislike of the Ukraine and the Ukraine War among Trump republicans, who have constantly been attacked by a pro-Ukrainian Democrat party. The second point is less clear but more important. Trump just hates the Ukrainian political class, and Zelensky.
