I knew few guys from gamedev (believe it or not, tons of projects all over the world had parts of them outsourced to Russia before 2022, rockstar's, pubg, more than I can imagine). Sure, there were some entitled lazy fucks who went into it for parties and free cafeteria. There also were some very able guys yet they complained that they have to half-ass stuff year after years because they only paid for a tiny amount of time to implement this or that.
I personally understood that the industry is fucked and there's no salvation when one of my subordinates (we were not in a gamedev, a tech stuff) used Selenium - basically a Chrome java app - for a script which did a single web query, that could be done with curl/wget, request library in Python, etc. He ran out of a 4gb virtual machine pretty fast. The guy was green tho, he got a bit better later on.
