I just turned on my VPN and connected to the Netherlands. Went to search something on Google and the results are shit. How is Google a popular global search engine when it's so shitty outside of North America??

Google is useless in 2025 anyway, all results are SEO corporate horseshit You're better off searching on REDDIT, because at least you'd be sure that a human wrote that post and not AI

>>25554350 There's plenty of AI garbage on Reddit too, just not as much. Also that's not a problem with Google, people just prefer posting on social media and majority of that content is hidden behind a login screen that Google can't index. Outside of that Google is great for research

>>25554360 >Google is great for research No it isn't Remember when "2nd page of google" was a joke, as in some place you will never go? In the last few years I've had to find the info I was looking for in pages 5,8 and 12 of google search results Thank the giant corpos like Facebook and google itself for shitting up the internet so bad that it's all corpo horseshit and unindexable social media

Why is google so unbelievably shit? I can't remember the last time I've done a reverse image search that gave me even one single result. Even on images that were fucking google images results. What the fuck. I need to fugure out how to add yandex to context menu.

Googling is a web 2.0 thing. Decent information comes from Discord groups or working problems out with AI. Image searches have to be pulled from Flickr/Yandex/Boorus/even fucking Twitter and 4chan archives. The worst Google search of them all is for their videos; if your keywords coincide with a mainstream news event good luck finding any results that aren’t from an establishment source.

Yandex is unironically better for research, not just of substantive topics like jews and niggers, but general stuff as well. Google is absurdly biased towards showing recent results, even if they're irrelevant. Yandex will happily show you a result from 1997 if that's actually relevant to your query.

>>25554382 Reverse search works way better on Google than any other service I've used, except for facial recognition systems. Google won't search faces unless they are well known people. I just hate that most of the image results are from stock photo sites. Finding organic content is better on DDG. Yandex is utter shit for image search in my opinion.

Expect Google to become even worse; their AI Gemini sucks and they have that Anti-trust case trying to force them to sell Chrome. They will just be an even more sleazy ad data company but with good maps and good videos.
