they have no soul, you need a car, there is nothing green in them goes for all cities in countries that are just too young. spend a while in new zealand and at first i liked how entire cities with 200.000 inhabitants consisted of cozy little houses with gardens and all, that was nice and green and all, but even in a town with not even half the inhabitants of my hometown, everything was so goddamn spread out that even by bike, every single commute took at least 40 minutes. i dont want to live anywhere where i absolutely need a car to do anything, this doesnt fit well with my drug habit my hometown is incredibly compact, even for a german city. i live near city centre and although my workplace and my rehearsal room are in the outskirts, i can go there by bike in 15 minutes if i hurry a bit. i never have to commute longer than 20 mins at max if i want to go somewhere thats really far out. and this with 270.000 inhabitants. all while still having many parks and green spaces all around. i dont want to miss this anymore all this city planning will fall on peoples feet once driving a car becomes a luxury only for the wealthy. have fun in your city where everything is so far apart that even bikes and buses are not a good idea to go around

>>25538834 cities like in the op are not efficient, tho coworker lived in the us in a suburb, there were absolutely no supermarkets, bakeries and so on. if you wanted to get anything at all, you had to drive. i dont see how anyone could have thought "no, we dont want a supermarket here, or a bakery at the corner, this would ruin our suburb, what we need to thrive are dozens of square miles of nothing but houses with some grass around, also no vegetable or fruit gardens please, the hoa wouldnt like that"

>>25538764 You didn't stay in Wellington then, because that is even more compact than European cities, despite being much younger.

>>25538852 Everything relate to US city design and lack of public transport is related to niggers and a few other minorities and crime. Once you understand that.... the design of their cities makes sense. Having a supermarket or bakery gives a reason outsiders a reason to visit your communtiy,(even many niggers can afford cars)

>>25538764 I live in Trier for a while. It had up to 400k population in Roman times, only 100k now. It can feel crowded and overfilled at times, but it's alive, it brings people together in public spaces. And the only bad parts are those where cars are allowed, noisy and stinky and always jammed.

>>25538904 wellington was the only exception, and if it wasnt cramped on an mountainous peninsula, it would have been spread out like every other city there it also was the only city where i enjoyed walking around. others were beautiful, too, but i can only see so and so many little wooden houses before i get a bit bored, and i dont want to explore cities by driving through them >>25538913 the main reason, as well for almost completely nigger-free new zealand, is cheap land and the fact most of this shit was planned after everyone already had a car. no reason to build compact under these circumstances, and also quite naive, because you cant really change anything if driving suddenly becomes too expensive for most people

They are poor and can't afford. Proof: see how rich europeans live in their gated communities, carbon copies of american suburbs.
