Practical aspect is hardware contracts, shipments. I imagine prior contracts will be honored, but I'm not 100% sure either - the contracts might transition to rather deliberate court cases. And new contracts might be out of option.

Germany will. This is America's Suez Crisis. America steps out, Europe steps in, Trump pisses himself and completely fails to make any meaningful agreement with Putin.
Remember that the US government runs out of money on March 18th. Trump has no solution for that other than massive medicaid cuts that will rape his base. This is what they voted for: expensive gas, expensive healthcare, expensive taxes, and the entire planet hating them. 2025 will be a very bad year for us and Trump won't get the message until Democrats win next year.

Europe has a lot of spare industrial capacity that can turn to military production, which will provide a lot of jobs. Things like the Volkswagen and BASF plants that were scheduled to shut down can start making military stuff, with out-of-work southern europeans compensating for any worker shortages Germany and France may face.
That'll require Europe to import a lot more oil and gas in the near future. They can do so, but it'll cost them. Their interest rates are still pretty low, so they can issue a decent amount of debt for a while.
Still, because European wages are so low, it can be cheaper and easier to manufacture in Europe than in America. And there is a lot industrial capacity on the continent. Europe will have to loosen a lot of regulations, and generally hold off on being faggots for a few years. It's a similar situation in Japan, and they might be seeing recent events as a sign that America doesn't care about Japan's security either, and they may get ideas about rebuilding their military capacity and joining with the European alliance.
I guess Japan could side with Trump and Putin and ramp up imports of cheap Russian oil & gas exports. That's an option.

Spending more on defence for the short term makes sense, but ramping up production like you suggested is not feasible, nor is it sustainable. The production has been ramping up for a few years already, but since trump came into power it has accelerated even more. Looks like another cold war for me, russia is preparing to attack europe, europe is forming a military alliance to deter (without usa this time).
>It's a seismic shift. That may read like hyperbole, but what we are now experiencing in terms of transatlantic relations is unprecedented in the 80 years since the end of World War Two.
>Big European powers have been shocked to the core by the Trump administration, which suggests it could revoke the security guarantees to Europe in place since 1945.
>"I would never have thought that I would have to say something like this in a TV show but, after Donald Trump's remarks last week... it is clear that this government does not care much about the fate of Europe," Friedrich Merz said during a post-election debate on Sunday.
>Germany's conservatives celebrate, but far right enjoy record result
"My absolute priority will be to strengthen Europe as quickly as possible so that, step by step, we can really achieve independence from the USA," he added.
>Merz hinted that the endeavour was so urgent that he was not sure on whether the transatlantic alliance leaders gathering for a summit in June "would still be talking about Nato in its current form or whether we will have to establish an independent European defence capability much more quickly".

Yes, by not signing an unconditional surrender he is the main impediment. Why are you so stupid, genuinely asking?

Can you spell 'tariffs'? Bumping up the price yurop pays for LNG, oh, say ~50%? Tariffing the whole world 10%? Piece of pie.

Btw, during the elections trump boasted that he will end the war in a week, never said with what kind of plan, most assumed that he will arm ukraine until TZD because that is the only option that works in russian diplomacy, but it seems he was really so low iq deluded schizo that his plan was to trying to force ukraine to unconditional surrender (or whatever demands he got from putin), he's really stupid to think that would've worked, in joe rogan interview he thought there are other lifeforms living on moon because nobody has visited it

It's up to ukrainians to decide if they want to turn all their cities to Bucha or keep resisting, they don't need trump or anyone else to sign the unconditional surrender if they wanted it

>Things like the Volkswagen and BASF plants that were scheduled to shut down can start making military stuff,
No, they actually can't. They don't have the energy. No gas. No oil. No nuclear electricity. No coal. Not even wood fired boilers. That's why the plants were closing down.

what about that artillery shells plant in the US that Zelensky visited? it will not get the orders? i wonder to what degree can individual democrat states (or republican pro-ukraine states) execute their own foreign policy. like, can they give monetary loans from state budget to Ukraine? and finance private production and procurement of arms produced in that state and ship them out?

Europeans don't have oil and gas because they're not willing to pay the elevated costs that they have to pay now. There's enough oil and gas available to them if they decide to open up their wallets.
France and Germany can spend a lot more and take on more debt, they just haven't chosen to do so. The American fiscal deficit and debt burden is worse than major European economies'.
If they see what they have to do to counter Russia as an existential necessity, they'll spend more.

I would disagree but honestly how are nations like South Korea, Japan, Taiwan, and maybe even Australia taking this? They're seeing that the current US government will easily betray them just to soothe Trump's ego. Even countries like Vietnam, Failpenis or India might take note of what happened. Trump's behaviour might work on Ukraine if things become more dire, but what if it seriously hurts the USA's credibility?
