>>25530777 They are apparently renaming the GPUs to come into line with their CPU offering. That's why the GPUs have jumped to the 9000 series. And the last couple of digits is meant to match Nvidia's offering. So the 9070 is meant to be a comparable offering to the 5070 and the XT with the Ti. So AMD are not attempting to compete with the 5080+ market until at least later in the year. High-end 1440p and 4K gaming is reserved for Nvidia cards.

>>25530834 Well given how shit the 5000 series release has been and how many own goals Nvidia is scoring, I'd say them not releasing anything to compete is almost a win for them. AMD's market share is only 10% of the GPU gaming market and they've officially stated that their priority for RDNA4 is to increase market share even at the expense of profit. So we should see cheap* cards this year from them. * This may not mean actually cheap like the good old days but probably about two thirds of what the going rate is for an equivalent Nvidia card.
Bernd Fri, 28 Feb 2025 17:28:47 GMT No. 25530931
i am happy with my rx 7900 Hope retards will actually support AMD now that they are bringing affordable cards. But i bet people will just use this to get nvidia cheaper for 100$ or 200$ and then continue crying when nvidia shits down their necks next season of cards
Bernd Fri, 28 Feb 2025 17:33:49 GMT No. 25530957 >>25531127
>>25530881 I think that's a solid strategy. There's no deficit of power, even oldest generations are still satisfying with 8+gb. If they can make them even cheaper (AMD was already always more bang for the buck), customers will be happy. Even green fanboys should be thankful to rivals for putting pressure on their pricing.

>>25530957 I don't think it will have the impact that they want if the price is still quite expensive. Like Bernds ITT, many gamers will have bought really quite powerful cards for $300 or maybe even less 5+ years ago that are still very good today. Even factoring inflation, I think a lot of people wouldn't want to spend more than $400-500 for a mid to high level card. $550 is better than Nvidia but it just not be worth swapping a 2080 Ti for. We'll see. I bet AMD have done the market research and probably have a better idea than I do anyway.

>>25531116 non XT and XT card are too close priced. AMD should make the non XT cheaper to reflect its weaker performance. Who would get the much slower non XT for only 50$ less? Also a cheap non XT 9070 would put the tba 5060 under pressure right from the start

I have never had video cards and processors from the red ones. I do not trust them. If we take video cards - they have been on the market longer than Nvidia and they lost the fight to them and Nvidia actually became a monopoly. Red cards are SLIGHTLY cheaper than green ones, but they do not have DLSS, tensor cores and CUDA.
