>>25512807 I've seen .223 penetrate through engine blocks, leave neat tiny round holes in plate glass windows, and I've seen tracer rounds tumble insanely for no good reason. .308 is bigger which is good sometimes but heavier so you can't carry as much. For larger game hunting I think the .308 is more appropriate. For war or coyotes then .223. It's just what it is.

The Swedes settled this over 100 years ago using SCIENCE to develop the 6.5x55 Mauser round. It's a great design, but pretty obscure here.
