In Lithuania they are also called crisps.
Traskuciai - from the word "Traskus" which mean crisps.
So Traskuciai means crispies. I never heard anyone call crisps "Chips" in lithuania. It's Traskuciai which translated directly is Crisps in english.
I think it's in all european countries that British english in taught, maybe different in Belarus? My friend studied english philology and he had to learn thee whole history of UK but nothing about america, lol.
