How much progress have you made in Japanese, Bernd-dono? It's been 10 years.

oh, and about my progress, i've made a little. i can read mid light novels while only looking up 3-4 words per page, and i can read good light novels needing to look up 8-9 words a page.

Mishima? In Japanese? damn. I heard that it's hard for some natives to read that sort of literature.

It's hard. Very hard, I'm making slow progress. Boomers like to stare at my books when I'm reading in public, at least now they can't read what it says.

I'm impressed that you're even reading it on paper, those sorts of kanji can't be easy to look up. Personally I use a kindle so I can quickly look up words.

Honestly, I've always struggled with katakana for some reason. Hiragana is easy. Kanji are fairly easy.

I use Anki algorithm but only on paper now. After using for a while I think I have developed approximate timings for myself. (I am not interested in Japan.)
