I have to read a lot of papers at work and everything after 2020 is literally all brown and yellow people creating "research" by writing about each others recycled work. The results they present are extremely inflated and the data and approach they use is never ever original in any way, its either a meta paper citing the same 5-10 year old papers or picking a good paper (still years old) and changing almost nothing about it, like adding one tiny thing that magically creates the best results ever. You then look up these Sharifs, Pajuut and Xin-Bao-Lin-Feng people and they shit out papers every single year with zero results just trying to get cited. I am 100% certain there are some telegram groups or whatever were you can trade quotes in your next paper. When I open papers now, I first look at the name, if its someone with brown sking I just instantly close it. Next filter is checking for yellow people, if yes look at the results and used data - if they are completely outrageous throw the paper in the bin. Whats left over is the white peoples papers and the 1% of actual good chinese research. Its so tiresome. University and research just became a product to sell (they sell themselves into better positions by artificially creating research)

you make fun of mathphyz but this applies to ALL of academia, its just that concepts are becoming so complicated and abstract that very few people know what they're talking about. and even when they do know what they're talking about, it's hard to explain and its completely useless and probably will be useless forever in 99,99999% of cases. which is still better than the 100% chance of uselessness that humanities research papers have :DDD

it's the same with molecular biology. too much of the research is disposable junk and not even reproducible. companies charge ridiculous amounts for reagents and all the labware, even simple plastic items. the PIs will pay up without hesitation, cus it's all financed by gibs anyway and not money they had to work for. most of the workers are low IQ med school rejects who shouldn't even be in science. if there was a mandate to achieve something concrete, we'd have cured all genetic diseases long time ago.
