Read Diderot's Encyclopedia. or that old Polish encyclopedia. people didn't have access to much knowledge back then so encyclopedias were a bit more fun to read.

It will give you a good amount of general knowledge without boring you to the ground. Once you read his encyclopedia you can read a modern one, focusing on modern history (since you now know all you need to know about old history and basic science). if you really wanna learn chemistry you can find some in a modern one too.
