I received too much change (R$1,50 more) and now I'm feeling I stole something :\ I suspect something was wrong, but I didn't want to say anything because I don't like talking with people, nor to make people think I don't know math's, nor to question the price other people say

>to make easier for him I said hey, I think I have some coins (at least R$1,75 in coins), so that he would give me R$20
>I see I only had R$1,25 in coins, I murmur I think it won't do it
>he takes my $1 coin, and gives me back R$20,75
And I didn't understand. I tried to help someone and made things worse.

Same thing happened to me at a restaurant recently. The guy gave me my bill, i brought up my money + change so i would only get bills back. He pulled out a calculator to start crunching numbers, and gave me back about 70 cents in change and an extra $4. I didn't say anything because I assumed he knew what he was doing.

Once I was in Colombia and bought a mango smoothie. I gave the guy money, but then I thought he cheated me with change, and argued with him. It was hard for me to calculate because the exchange rate was large and the currency was new to me. Later, I counted my money carefully and realized he didn't cheat me. I felt very embarrassed.

Let's break down the transaction to see where the discrepancy is:
Cost of goods: R$31.75
Payment offered: R$50.00 bill + R$1.00 coin = R$51.00
Change expected: R$51.00 - R$31.75 = R$19.25
Change received: R$20.75
The shopkeeper gave you R$1.50 too much change.

It is mess up. I don't like to argue with people, so I usually simply don't go in places I know people tend to not be honest with the exchange.

This reminds me of the one time I interacted with a gypsy/romanian/indian couple (whatever the fuck they are), they tried to steal from me when I was working as a cashier, they asked me if I could exchange some bills, and they tried giving the bill I gave them as a "tip" before giving me anything back while I was busy with something else, imagine being this scummy while on vacation.

Bernds are having trouble crunching numbers on a slow board, no wonder I fumble up when that happens in real time while having to understand broken english.

Even a hobo wouldn't care about that amount of money. Go out on the street right now and hand it over to one. He might spit on you
