I worry about what would happen if you genuinely stopped caring about what others might think. It seems like it would be a quick way to a fast death.

it isnt what people think of you that matters in life; its how they treat you if you act in a way that results in people treating you like shit, do you really care what they think and does it matter?

>>25519224 Yes, you can't contribute anything or even very much to a person's behavior, only the evaluation. That's not really my point. My point is, even the most reckless of insane bernds put on a facade to keep fat and warm. What happens when you put fat and warm on the line in service of what you truly think, and how you truly want to conduct yourself?

What others could think screwed up my life in some areas I think.

>>25519213 >>25519220 >>25519213 >>25519224 >>25519251 This is not a very complicated philosphical dilemma. Not at all. OP hasn't considered the most important thing, which is the fact that its impossible to really know what other people think of you. You can at best know what they say they think of you, but not really what they think of you. Therefore, you are actually talking about "what if I stopped adjusting my behavior to the models I build from the data I gather from other people's words and deeds". This statement reveals the fact that your actions at best are guided by indirect and circumstantial perceptions - not hard reality. Reality in this case being their actual opinion. A concept you can only know that exists - because you have such inner ideas too - BUT WHAT YOU WILL NEVER KNOW ANYTHING ELSE MORE ABOUT. Again, you only know that other people have an opinion of you. That is really ALL you know. And all you ever WILL know.

>>25519280 If anything, playing by the rules seems to lead to an unsatisfactory and chaotic end all the same. I guess the question is just how far can you push it? Its time to test the fences, which is going to be scary. Most of the time, when people tell you to leave your comfort zone, they're really just telling you to snap to a preapproved societal archetype. Rarely do we explore where they end and I begin.

>>25519306 You can infer. I think we all know true knowledge of others subjective contents is unobtainable, but we have the perturbation method i.e. don't dress weird, stay in fashion, use the right language even if its ghetto speak, like the right thing, etc. There are indicators, but no, we do not have access to the clockwork.
