I realized that games were an addiction after spending a few years not playing it too much, then rimwold came out, and I started playing it the whole day like I used to back with my old games, and I got hit with these feelings of emptyness after I closed the game. Games really do manipulate your dopamine or whatever.

Modern AAA games feel the most soulless of all. Also, good game mechanics are real, game stories are almost all crap.

Sometimes you get hit with the emptiness? Only when I played grindy MMOs that eat up massive amounts of time despite not being fun. I would have moment of clarity where I wondered why the fuck I was wasting so much time on something that was at the very best just a mild detraction from crushing boredom. So I eventually quit playing MMOs and haven't really had such a feeling regarding games. My time playing them feels like time well spent. Similar to how I feel watching a good movie, having a good day training martial arts, or listening to a good audio-book. They are enjoyable recreational activities that make me happy. A enhancement to my life. I don't fall for the "productivity cult" mentality that only things that earn money or can lead eventually to earning money are valuable. Fun is valuable on it's own. It doesn't need to be something that earns social status or builds wealth for it to be a good use of my time and effort.
