your spine, and your neck specifically, has pretty much all your nerves running through it. We don't have the technology to fix nerve damage (yet)

We can't actually fix things the body grows organically. The best we have is screwing bones together and hoping they fuse correctly. The rest is up to incomprehensible permutations of cell growth and function, which is why stem cells were so important.
