Why don't Western producers do it vertically? Having it horizontal is a waste?

I have my doubts about the claims that this farm is fully automatized. Cleaning industrial barns is a very labour intensive task.

>>25508538 my barn uses modern techniques for cleaning with basically 0 labour. the floor uses plastic slats and all waste drops to the bottom to a slurry tank which is then just pumped out to be spread on fields as fertiliser.

The number of practical issues is crazy, it's more expensive, and there is no way to do it according to modern ethical regulations. Lastly there is no need as there is PLENTY of farmland that is viable for livestock. It solves no real problems while causing many more.

tfw our existence requires a constant ongoing holocaust of living beings just so we can stay alive. At least in the savannah evolution would somewhat balance things out even though people were OP even back then

>>25511216 see >>25508779 if there aren't slats then the traditional method is to put straw on the ground, which then needs to be shoveled out and replaced with clean straw. straw costs money. they are only indoors for a couple of weeks for lambing, or for separation or quarantining. some people do lambing outside, but this has way too many problems for anyone with sense to deal with, e.g. rain and snow.
