Is this the best book ever written?
Dostoevsky is for midwits.

Russian literature is shit. Its pretty much like Hesse, nothing every happening, useless monologues about le suffering and cruelty of the world just with simpler language (hard to tell as I only read translations) and autistic obsessions with faith and church. I read Dostoyevsky and Tolstoi and after reaching the last page I felt like I stared at a blank wall for 700 pages, I learned nothing, I didnt get any new experiences or perspectives, I just read an old persons bitter reflection on their wasted life.

But Hesse is good though.
Also, those types of novels and films where "nothing seems to happen" are the best ones. Because they let you digest what you read instead of spoon-feeding you. It's like saying you prefer Marvel slop over French cinema. It's of a plebeian taste. Honestly.

Maybe but why read a book that neither makes me more knowledgable or feel something. Russian literature is freezing time and thoughts, I am left with nothing in the end and forgot it the next day. I wish I could get into it but its not for me unfortunately.
