I had no internet access when it was airing, not could I reliably use the family TV. My closest friends tried to watch it but dropped it for similar reasons. Nowadays I hate shows that start with too many characters I don't care about off the bat. Same with Walking Dead or FROM.

Almost all shows start off without a plan and get worse and increasingly incoherent with every season. There are some exceptions.

I wouldn't say it was bad. But I feel the people who watched lost when it when it was being broadcasted had an experience that a person watching it now, won't have. Like, debating crazy theories and the like.

It worked by putting increasingly weird shit in the show with the implication that it would all make sense in the end, so people kept watching hoping to get the answers but instead just kept getting weirder shit. In reality they had no idea where they were going with any of this and never resolved anything. Retrospectively the show is just a bunch of random nonsense and now that this is known it would be retarded to watch it. The show was basically a scam.

I remember when it was airing, but never bothered enough to watch it or any other of these big TV series. TV is inferior art. I only watch comedy to pass the time occasionally (Monty Python, Seinfeld, Simpsons, Curb).

It is a mess of all modern TV shows stereotypes: cliffhangers, filler flashbacks, unexpected flashforwards, random mysteries without further development, flushing plot arcs down the toilet. There is nothing more in it, no point in remembering it.

Lost has a great cast, great music. They ended up not playing all their cards right, but it's fine to stop after season 5 and pretend that's the end of the show. One card they had and didn't play, I thought they should have said that the food drops were sent forward in time by Dharma in the 70s when they were still operating and doing such Orchid station experiments. To anyone considering a Lost rewatch, I recommend Chronologically Lost, a fan edit that puts the entirety of the show in chronological order. Getting all the flashbacks upfront is a bit disjointed, but after that the island stuff just cruises. Fun way to revisit the series in a way that feels fresh. Also, I think there ought to be a Swan station recreation at Disneyland.

Lost Seasons 1-4 (2004-2008) are great though, would recommend a watch and just make up your own ending.

Lost was the first show that hinged on "OMG WHAT IS THAT WHAT'S IT MEAN" and when they answered everything and it became a character drama it kind of sucked. I say that now but watching the whole thing on Netflix in 2010 I was into it. Not Penny's boat.
