Which one does Bernd prefer? I recently used Rider for a small C# projects and the full line autocomplete and LINQ simplifications are a game-changer to me. Makes me think that VSCode is a toy in comparison.

IDEA for Java development is unrivaled, CLion is dogshit. I only tried Rider for Unreal Engine and Unity, was ok.
As long as its not Visual Studio, Eclipse or emacs/vi fedora tier bullshit it doesnt matter

I've been using VSCode with clangd for the past 3 years and am satisfied with it. I want to try CLion and see how it compares after being blown away by Rider.

I unironically use Vim unless I absolutely have no choice. Sometimes I might use whatever IDE the manufacturer of the dev board ships to set up the project, but then I try to dig out the CLI tools the editor is calling and then write Makefiles using them.

Feature parity in IDEs is already here.
Now the only thing that matters is "can I make it do exactly what I want" and for you, that answer is "no". For me, yes.

I think I like Vscode the least. I like it even less than Visual Studio. Intelij is nice but in terms of Java IDEs I liked Netbeans more. For Qt/C++ I am fine with QtCreator.
